Patent Attorney Opportunity

Our client, a leading AmLaw 200 law firm, is seeking a Patent Attorney to join its growing Intellectual Property practice. The attorney will focus on U.S. and international patent preparation and prosecution involving software, electrical, electromechanical, mechanical, computer engineering, physics, and related technologies. This is an opportunity to work directly with inventors, in-house counsel, foreign associates, and experienced IP attorneys on a range of sophisticated patent matters.

Responsibilities include:

  • Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications.
  • Prepare responses to USPTO Office Actions and participate in examiner interviews.
  • Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and validity analyses.
  • Handle patent matters involving software, electronics, electromechanical systems, image processing, and related technologies.
  • Conduct legal and technical research involving patent law and emerging technologies.
  • Manage multiple matters, deadlines, and client assignments simultaneously.
  • Communicate with inventors, in-house counsel, foreign associates, and clients.
  • Participate in client meetings and support business development initiatives as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across practice areas to provide comprehensive legal solutions.

Qualifications include:

  • 1-4 years of experience in intellectual property, with meaningful patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • USPTO registration required.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Undergraduate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience with patent matters involving software, electronics, electromechanical technology, image processing, or related technologies.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and technical communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, clients, inventors, and other professionals.
